Muong Hoa Valley

Muong Hoa valley is located in Hau Thao commune, about 8km south-east of Sapa town. From Sapa town, passing a mountain,  tourists will arrive at Muong Hoa valley.

Coming to Muong Hoa , the most interesting thing is watching the “paint” of terraced fields . It is like a wonderful “miracle” made by the people here. Without those rice fields,  Muong Hoa will perhaps lose most of its beauty. Every season , terraced fields also leave an impression in the hearts of visitors. In the winter, Muong Hoa valley under clouds like a ” heaven”. When ethnic groups grow rice on fields, the valley carries on its “green shirt” of the leaf plating. Until the harvest, the valley will turns into “a yellow carpet” all around the mountain.

In addition to the valley, visitors are also attracted to the ancient rocks. With many different engraved images, the ancient rocks are intermingled with grasses . There are hundreds of sandstone carved figures, strange characters . Today, this ancient rocks site has been ranked like a national monument, a unique heritage of the ancient Vietnamese. Inside Muong Hoa valley, there is a beautiful small stream which is about 15 km far away. It flows through villages : Lao Chai, Ta Van, Hau Thao and it ends in Ban Ho.

The ancient rocks, which have beautiful carvings, are concentrated in Ban Pho. Some rocks are large stones. They have different faces are engraved on the surface and the human forms in many poses: the figures which have outstretched arms  or holded hands, etc… These drawings belong to  different eras.
