The first theory, according to the transmission of local people and elderly people, the Dau Go Cave is also known as Hidden Wood  cave (after the name is called into Dau Go Wood) as it is associated with the story of history. During the 13th century resistance war against the Nguyen-Mong invaders, the Tran dynasty hid the wooden poles before dropping them into the Bach Dang River (Yen Hung) to build the battlefield. The pile destroys enemy ships. This story explains the unique Vietnamese name of the cave and reminds people of the events of the outstanding military victory of the Tran Hung Dao against the Nguyen-Mong invaders more than 7 centuries ago. People still handed down the folk song: “Hong Gai is the Poem Mountain / Dau Go Cave with Long Tien Pagoda”.

The second theory explains that the Dau Go arch island chain is formed in front of the Dau Go cave, so that fishermen often gather here during the stormy days, or after a fishing time, they anchor. Living crowded and repaired to close the boat here so there are many wooden beams left. Probably the name of Dau Go was formed from this incident.
